Mesdames et Messieurs,
Le Président de la République Islamique, Mohammad Khatami, a prévu de
faire un voyage en France du 27 au 29 Octobre afin de rencontrer le
Président Jacques Chirac, ainsi que les membres influents du gouvernement
et des industries Françaises.
Les cercles d'influence Pro-Islamique et leurs alliés dans les médias,
croient que de telles entrevues auront l'impact nécessaire pour aider un
régime se trouvant dans l'impasse et que ces discussions amélioreront non
seulement les relations entre le régime Islamique et la France, mais
également avec l'ensemble des pays de l'Union Européenne ouvrant la voie
aux investissements étrangers dont le regime en a vivement besoin.
Le SMCCDI (CCMEDI) croit que telles rencontres basées uniquement sur des
relations mercantiles n'ont aucun effet en ce qui concerne l'amélioration
de la situation alarmante et honteuse de l'abus des Droits de l'homme en
Iran.
En effet, l'année dernière s'est achevée avec une vague d'assassinats
comprenant celui de Dariush Forouhar et de son épouse, Mme Parvaneh
Eskandari, et de plusieurs autres dissidents. Plusieurs poètes et
écrivains notamment H. Hagizadeh, M. Sharif, M.Mokhtari et J.Pouyandeh
furent également, assassinés par les agents du régime.
Nous pouvons ajouter a cette triste liste des noms de disparus comme
P.Davani. La pression de l'opinion publique Iranienne et à l'échelle
internationale obligea le gouvernement de Téhéran à dévoiler certains
aspects de ses liens avec ces meurtres (1).
Mais, a ce jour, le régime n'a pas encore révélé aux Iraniens l'identité
des réels commanditaires de ces assassinats. Comme le démontre le fameux
procès de Berlin nomme "Procès Mykonos" (2), de tels assassinats sont
impossibles sans l'approbation des dirigeants religieux de haut niveau,
qui en lançant un ordre religieux (Fatwa), ordonnent explicitement aux
agents du gouvernement de tuer les personnes citées.
Vous avez été témoins durant l'été 1999 d'une série d'émeutes
éstudiantines contre l'ensemble du régime avec des slogans comme: "La
liberté ou la mort !", "A bas la dictature !" ou "Vive la liberté
d'expression !". Très vite, les étudiants furent rejoints par d'autres
couches sociales. Le Président Khatami qui a d'abord essayé de détourner
la révolte en se déclarant solidaire avec les revendications du peuple a
vite compris le danger qu'il y avait que tout le système sois remis en
cause et a fini, après le troisième jour d'émeute, par condamner le
mouvement, inspiré selon lui « par des forces étrangères ».
Encore une fois, la violence et l'agressivité ont été la réponse ultime du
régime des Ayatollahs avec le bilan provisoire de 9 morts et des centaines
de blessés. Plus de 1400 personnes on été arrêtées dont 4 ont jusqu'ici
été condamné à mort. En même temps, l'oppression religieuse sur d'autres
minorités Iranienne continue avec l'arrestation de 13 Juifs Iraniens
accusés une fois de plus d'espionnage pour le compte d'Israël et des
Etats-Unis (3).
La politique des gouvernements européens n'a fait qu'envenimer la
situation en Iran au cours de l'année dernière (1) et ces gouvernements
doivent être très attentifs à leurs décisions pour ne pas empirer la
situation.
Nous croyons qu'il est grand temps que les gouvernements européens et plus
particulièrement la France reconnaissent officiellement la nature
terrifiante du régime Islamique et comprennent que le Président Khatami et
ses alliés n'ont aucune considération pour les Droits Elémentaires des
Iraniens et n'ont aucun autre objectif que celui d'exploiter le Peuple
d'Iran.
Nous croyons qu' il est grand temps pour des pays comme la France de
suivre l'exemple des Etats Unis d'Amérique et de servir comme un modèle
pour les autres membres de l'union Européenne en donnant leur support
moral au Mouvement Démocratique et Laïc d'Iran.
En adoptant une telle politique, la France sera au long terme un grand
gagnant, car très bientôt, le Peuple d'Iran redeviendra le maître de sa
propre destinée et le détenteur de ses avoirs nationaux.

The Student Movement Coordination Committee for Democracy in Iran

Ladies, Gentlemen,
Islamic Republic President, Mohammad Khatami, is scheduled to travel to
France to meet the French President Jacques Chirac and other top
government and industry leaders between Oct. 27-29.
Pro IRI lobbyists and their friends in the mass media argue that this
high-profile meeting will be a positive turning point for Iran. They
believe it will not only foster better relations between Iran and France,
and through her, the European Union, but will also open the door to the
foreign investments which the Islamic Republic needs so desperately today.
SMCCDI believes that such meetings, focused on improving business ties, do
nothing when it comes to correcting the rampant and gross human rights
violations in Iran.
Political murders have become widespread in Iran. Last year alone they
included the murders of Mr. Darioush Forouhar, his wife, Mrs. Parvaneh
Forouhar-Eskandari, and a string of political dissidents. Also murdered by
regime agents were several poets and writers, including H.
Hagizadeh, M. Sharif, M. Mokhtari, J. Pouyande. Added to these are
countless "disappeared" persons, such as P. Davani. Public pressure from
inside Iran and from the international community has forced the Tehran
government to disclose some aspects of its own involvement in these
murders (1).
But so, the regime has still not told the Iranian public who was
responsible for last year's political murders. As everyone familiar with
this system knows, a high ranking leader must issue a Religious Sentence
(Fatwa) before any assassination is carried out by government agents.
(This was proven in a court of law during the Mykonos trial in Germany
(2)).
This past summer, Iranian students protested against the regime with
slogans such as "Freedom or Death!; Down with Dictatorship!; Freedom of
Expression!.." The students were later joined by common civilians.
President Khatami at first responded to these protests by declaring his
solidarity. After 3 days of protests, and realizing that magnitude of the
public anger, the Islamic president went on to accuse and condemn these
protests and as usual to declare them to be "inspired by Foreign forces."
The violent reaction from the Ayatollah's regime left nine dead, hundreds
of people wounded, while over 1400 people were arrested. Last month four
of those arrested students were condemned to death. The Regime has also
stepped up the repression of religious minorities, which resulted in the
arrest of thirteen Iranian Jews earlier this year. Once again, the regime
has accused them of spying for the United States and Israel.
The current polices towards Iran that the European
governments are supporting have only worsened the situation for the
Iranian public (1).
We believe it is time that the European governments and specially the
Government of France officially acknowledged the horrendous regime of the
Islamic Republic, and realize that President Khatami and his friends only
care about exploiting the Iranian people and not for their basic
human rights.
The European governments should be careful about making their
decisions on which policies to support. Current European policies in
support of the regime only wind up by intensifying the oppression of the
Iranian people.
It is time that a country like France to follow the example of the US
Government and set an example for the rest of Europe by supporting the
Iranian Secular and Democratic Movement.
By adopting a more long-term policy, France will have much more to gain
than to lose as soon Iranians will become master of their own National
assets and policy.
